Hi there! My name is Joni and I’m a senior at UTD majoring in ATEC General with a focus in animation. As my graduation approaches, I've taken virtually every entry level animation course (and more) here at UTD. My time here has given me the opportunity to get to know professors, the kind of animation curriculum provided at UTD, and what life is like when taking more than two lab courses.
While there are official UTD sites with information on ATEC courses, this site aims to provide perspective from a student’s eyes. Official sites don’t account for a student's schedule, and any other matters outside the courses. The essential question is “Is UTD’s animation course right for you?” — I hope to help answer that by giving key information to those interested in the major. Whether that be incoming freshmen, transfer students, or anyone else who wants to know more about the animation program at UTD. It can be daunting to pick out classes as it is, however, for many, college is the first time they have the chance to take classes related to animation. This can add an extra level of uncertainty.
