Six Thinking Hats Assignment

Six Thinking Hats Method

Summary

White Hat: My project will be creating a website about the animation courses at ATEC. With that mind, my partner and I dicussed how the data I already have is the objective experience of taking the classes. What assignments were given, an estimated timeline on how the assigments were laid out, what happened during class time, how heavy the lecture material was, and more.

Red Hat: When it comes to the emotional aspect of the project, my partner and I decided it is related to the central question of this project. "Is ATEC animation for you?" This involves as emotional aspect as it will require the audience to carefully consider this question. The goal is that the project has to guide the audience to this question.

Black Hat: Before entering ATEC animation, we imagine people will have uncertainity in their way. Questions of job security related to the art field, or if art is for them. For many, this may be their first greater step into art which leads to people doubting themselves. The goal of the site is to further enforce the central question, so people don't have to dwell in this kinda of logical, yet negative thinking.

Yellow Hat: On the bright side, my partner and I agreed that joining ATEC animation will bring about many new opportunities. From meeting great professors who are highly skilled in their fields, to other industry professors. Moreover, resources from the labs like special equipment and programs become accesible to students. This will foster theri development as artist. I have a page planned for the site which covers resources provided at ATEC. I hope this will let people consider if they want to go into ATEC due to their wider opportunities.

Green Hat: When it comes to growth, ATEC will undoubtly give students the chance to develop their portfolios, take courses which challange them, and usher people to become betetr at time managament. All of this fosters growth in the students. I plan to have a section in the page covering time management in terms of taking lab courses. Hearing that may help the viewers understand the hardships of the major but also the rewarding factor to it.

Blue Hat: This hat is on organization and thinking. The site will mention more on organization when it comes to the required time managment needed to take more than 2 lab courses. This all should give the audience a chance to think ahead, and it this major is for them.

How your Project has Changed

Based on this discussion, I believe bringing back a central theme to the whole page will be beneficial. It gives me more structure, and what to aim for when it comes to desiging the site. I will keep the theme in mind in order to promote the message I want, and make a site which can convey such. The central theme being "Is ATEC for you?" and "think ahead." Both are key in what I want to communicate to my audience. By having this in mind, the final site will be a lot more cohesive.
